18 अगस्त 1951 को पश्चिम बंगाल के खड़गपुर में भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, IIT खड़गपुर का औपचारिक उद्घाटन हुआ। यह भारत का पहला IIT था। इसकी स्थापना ने देश में उच्च तकनीकी शिक्षा और अनुसंधान के एक नए युग की शुरुआत की और आगे चलकर भारत के तकनीकी विकास में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया।
On 18 August 1951, the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur, was formally inaugurated in West Bengal. It was the first IIT in India. Its establishment marked a new era in higher technical education and research and later contributed significantly to India’s scientific and technological development.
