21 अगस्त 1911 को लियोनार्डो दा विंची की मोनालिसा पेरिस के लौवर संग्रहालय से चोरी हो गई। करीब दो साल तक वह इटली में छिपी रही और दिसंबर 1913 में फ्लोरेंस में बरामद हुई। चोरी ने इसकी प्रसिद्धि और बढ़ा दी। अपनी रहस्यमयी मुस्कान और अद्भुत ‘स्फूमातो’ तकनीक के लिए प्रसिद्ध मोनालिसा आज भी लौवर के कमरा 711 में सुरक्षित है।
On August 21, 1911, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre in Paris. It remained hidden in Italy for over two years and was recovered in Florence in December 1913. The theft made it even more famous. Known for its mysterious smile and remarkable sfumato technique, the Mona Lisa is still displayed in Room 711 of the Louvre.
