23 अगस्त 2023 को भारत के चंद्रयान-3 मिशन के लैंडर विक्रम ने चंद्रमा की सतह पर सफल सॉफ्ट लैंडिंग की। भारत चंद्रमा पर सॉफ्ट लैंडिंग करने वाला चौथा देश और चंद्रमा के दक्षिणी ध्रुवीय क्षेत्र के पास उतरने वाला पहला देश बना। इस उपलब्धि की याद में 23 अगस्त को राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष दिवस मनाया जाता है।
On 23 August 2023, India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission successfully achieved a soft landing on the Moon. India became the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the lunar surface and the first to reach the region near the Moon’s south polar area. 23 August is now celebrated in India as National Space Day.
