डॉ. विक्रम साराभाई
12 अगस्त का दिन भारत के इतिहास में डॉ. विक्रम साराभाई की जयंती के रूप में अमर है। 12 अगस्त 1919 को जन्मे डॉ. साराभाई को "भारतीय अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रम का जनक" कहा जाता है। उन्होंने देश को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए विज्ञान और तकनीक का उपयोग करने का दूरदर्शी सपना देखा था।
उनके सबसे महान प्रयासों के कारण ही 15 अगस्त 1969 को इसरो (ISRO) की स्थापना हुई। इसके अलावा, उन्होंने भौतिक अनुसंधान प्रयोगशाला (PRL) और IIM अहमदाबाद जैसे देश के शीर्ष संस्थानों की नींव रखी। भारत के पहले उपग्रह 'आर्यभट्ट' के प्रक्षेपण की रूपरेखा भी उन्हीं के मार्गदर्शन में तैयार की गई थी।
विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में अद्वितीय योगदान के लिए उन्हें पद्म भूषण और पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया। 30 दिसंबर 1971 को उनका निधन हो गया। आज भारत अंतरिक्ष क्षेत्र में जो भी सफलताएं हासिल कर रहा है, उसकी मजबूत नींव डॉ. साराभाई ने ही रखी थी।
August 12 is immortalized in Indian history as the birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. Born on August 12, 1919, Dr. Sarabhai is widely celebrated as the "Father of the Indian Space Programme." He possessed a visionary dream of utilizing science and technology to make the nation self-reliant.
His extraordinary efforts led to the establishment of ISRO on August 15, 1969. Beyond space science, he founded premier national institutions like the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) and IIM Ahmedabad. Under his stellar guidance, the blueprint for India's first satellite, 'Aryabhata,' was meticulously designed.
For his unparalleled contributions to science, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He passed away on December 30, 1971. The robust foundation Dr. Sarabhai built continues to power India's historic achievements in outer space today.
